Other than ppt, what other files will Powerpoint open?

I am a newbie and have some questions about using images in PowerPoint
2002.
1. Is it best to add images into PowerPoint slides using Copy/Paste or
insert picture from File?

Up until about a month ago, we used PPT 2003 with no problems.  Recently, we
upgraded to 2007 and a strange error has occurred.  In preview mode (ie,
when constructing the PPT) the fonts/wordart looks fine.  But running the
PPT makes the fonts go 'funny'.  The text is displayed, ...

I have a .ppt file that plays an audio track beautifully.  I've times out the
whole show to it, but when I saved it as a .pps the audio track vanished.
Any suggestions?

I grouped objects in a presentation, added new objects, did a ungroup,
selected all and tried to group again.  PP will not allow this, as the Group
selections are grayed out.  Any ideas?

I've installed Office 2007 on my PC, and now, when I view PowerPoint
presentations, all of the text on the slide is centered on the line it is
supposed to be on.. but all the letters are stacked on top of one another?

I've laid a text box over a photo in a slide, and in order that the text
should stand out, made it white. However, when i print preview and when i

Apparently, a picture placeholder can be placed in the Master Slide template
with PowerPoint 2007 when it was not available in earlier versions. Could

hi, you can assign action settings to pictures and text boxes to take you to
a specific slide but is there a way to assign the slide itself so that
instead of (by default) taking you to the next slide when you click anywhere
on the current slide it takes you to a specific slide?

I wish to add and toggle exhibits within my powerpoint.  Some exhibits are 8
x14 and several pages long.  I tried links but then I'm stuck in the PDF or
document.  Is it possible to create 8x14 slides then create a custom slide
show?
