I opened document created in Word 97. Next, I see paragraphs and periods automatically embedded in this document and all of the Word 97 files in my computer. Pls help

I teach an online class. One of the lessons teaches students how to create macros in Word. One of my studnets gets a message saying "Cannot create macro" when she clicks the Keyboard button on the Record Macro dialog box.

Whenever I try to open a WORD document, I need to observe a procedure which requires me to (supposedly) exit the word window; only then does it load the text, which turns out often to be in a form which is locked forediting

I find that numerous of my documentssaved in WORD form cannot be unlocked for (re-)editing. Some are very long documents, some quiteshort (3-4 pp). How can I unlock them for editing?
