Word 2003 - incompatible with old versions?01 Nov 2003 00:56 GMT1
I recently installed Office 2003 Professional.  I am
having serious compatibility problems with my older Word
and Powerpoint files.  I am unable to open any file not
created with Word 2003 or Powerpoint 2003.  I am prompted

When typing in a Word Document, a solid black line
covers the text I typed.  I went into the language setuup
and reset the default and the black line goes away until
I try to type again and then it reappears.

intermittently, when I click on a word document, it will
fall to the bottom of the desktop and blink in orange. To
get into it, I have to click on the blinking icon.  
Annoying and virus-like but ran Norton and no bugs.

Word has been working fine until this afternoon.  Now, whenever I try to
open a document, I get the error, "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.

ways that the text area often loses focus, interrupting my
typing and requiring me to relocate the IP to continue:

I have the new release of word.  When I click to start
word nothing happens, when I check my task manager I see

This is a followup message re: Erratic Behavior in Word
2002.  All suggested solutions have been tried, but
there's no change in the problem.  Here's the problem:
1) Menus automatically drop down, files open, Find dialog

When using word and you are typing in todays date the
autofill does not show the current date.  I beleive it is
showing the last date the computer had been rebooted.  The
time clock and calander are correct.  HOw do I fix this.
