When i open Word 2000 my document 1 has text on screen from previous document which was to my knowledge not saved.It wont let me delete it without asking to save.If i press open new documnet it again apears and keeps doing so

I use a laptop at my workplace and if I leave it turned on for the night the next morning when I use word the date in the AutoComplete doesn't come out right. If I restart my computer it seems to fix itself. Could someone please help
