Use MS Works 6.0.  All works fine except Word.  Won't
open up a new document. Says "Works Task Launcher can't
access the task."  Reinstalled Windows XP to no avail.
Any ideas?

There is a file that keeps loading either on the desktop or under the C
directory. It only has the tilde symbol (~) as its name. What is it and how
do I stop it doing that?

Word 97 prints an "Application Closing Error" whenever I open the file. I can not open any word file?

so i cannot create any new documents.  I think i selected

Using tools, options, general, measurements, I can change my ruler to anything but inches. Even though selected, the ruler remains centemeters instead of inches. Anyone run into this and found a solution?

I've been building matrices for some time now using the
Equation Editor tool in Word, and suddenly it no longer
allows me to put brackets around matrices that have more

When using the automatic page numbering in word it comes
up ok on the screen.  But when I send it to the printer it
comes out as page 1 of 1 instead of 1 of 19.

I am using Office 2000 under Windows 2000.  When I am typing, the cursor spontaneously jumps back into text that I have already typed.  I have experienced the identical problem when using Word XP.  The problem is so annoying that it renders Word virtually unusable.

Are there any list servs for this group? Or actually, any word error group?
