We are using MS Office Ver. 97. We want the autosave and always create
backup copy option to be enabled as default for all the systems. (Tools>
Options> Save).
It works for the normal installation without any problem once it is enabled.

This is a followup message re:Strange things happening in
Word 2002.  I responded to the reply from Suzanne, but
have not received a response, so I'm sending this again.  
My problem is two-fold:

when attempting to Translate using MS Word i got this
massage "Microsoft word has encountered a problem and
needs to close", althoug i haved OFFICE XP SP3 installed .

I can't open Word 97. When I try to open it, or a Word
file, it freezes up the computer, then tells me my system
is dangerously low on resources. It isn't a problem with
other programs (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Explorer).

I typically have problems with Word doucments when they
have the following characteristics:
i) they are over 30 pages long
ii) they have drawn diagrams

Recently a problem has developed such that I can no
longer run Word. It crashes every time.
Excel works fine. Wordpad works fine. All other
applications seem to be OK.

I am using Windows XP Pro and Office 2000.  I use Norton
Antivirus and when I check, even right after an update of

One of the AutoFormat features in Word 97 is supposed to change
underlining
symbols (like _this_) to underlining.  Instead, it changes it to
