I was just coming here to look for help on the same
issue. It just started two weeks ago. It used to switch
immediately. It doesn't matter which programs or how many
I have open. It is the same.

My MS Office 2000 WinWord.exe collapses immediately upon
opening. Its Version 9.0.3822 and my OS in Win 98
Version 4.10.1998.

Don't know if "Definition links" is the proper term but,
When I use Help and click on a highlighted term, that should bring me a
definition, it doesn't do anything except mark it as referenced.
The underlined links to different sections work ok.

Each time I open Word I get the same text which I then have to delete before entering new text.
