Can I retrieve unsaved text?

Word 2000, Insert >Cross-reference, with Insert as hyperlink turned ON:

due to some operation, I lost my menubar in word2000. Can anyone help me how
to retrieve or troubleshoot menubar in word2000?

I have Office XP. Sometimes in the past several weeks I wanted to "save as"
