The File command (and drop down menu) has disappeared from the word document screens. (All commands still work from hot keys). Can't retore through tolls customise function. Have tried re installing the office suite. Any suggestions please?

I have disabled Norton Office Plug-In. Word takes about 40 seconds to open and close. When it finally closes, it does not respond and must be closed via task manager. Opening documents are similiarly difficult.

Create index have marked all entries using a cncordance file. Display field codes and the fields beginning with {XE ... } are all there, but the index itself is not generated. Now it is a BIG word doc over 1 million characters, and is 1,166 pages long.

Word 2002, Win XP, SP-2 When I start Word and try to use it, the Project is Locked dialog box opens with the message "Project is Unviewable". After I hit enter, the box closes and I can use Word.

My Word works fine on my desktop, but not on my husband's or daughters. The spell checker won't work on theirs. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it twice with the same results.
