When opening documents, I get a message that says: This document could not be
registered. It will not be possible to create links from other documents to
this document.
What does this mean and What can i do about it?

during spellcheck The add to button/option in the custom dictionary is not
active.   it says the custom dictionary is read-only.  How do we change that?

I have a Cannon C6800 Image Runner copier/printer. Its on the network. Every
time I try to print MS Word 2003 is trying to use the wrong paper. In Word
2003 I have it set for letter. How can I set the defaults for Word?

Every time I open word 2003 it wants to go into safe. How can I stop this? I
ran the office updates, I re-installed MS Office 2003. Should I do an
uninstall and install again?

Running Office 97 on an XP set. For some reason Word is saving files using
only the first character of whatever name I use to save it. Eg 'Test'.doc
becomes 'T'.doc. It will show all the previously saved files with their full
name, but even if you open them and try resaving them ...

When I try to use the formatting palette in Word 2004 (Macintosh) it scoots
down to the far right hand bottom, out of view – and then scoots back into

Recently had to reload all my applications/programs, etc. etc. (Windows XP et
al) into my Dell Inspiron laptop.
Two weeks later, had to load everything from my PC into the laptop because
of a motherboard collapse.

I am a programmer and am using the developer edition of Office XP so am quite
technical but have very little information to begin troubleshooting this
information and was hoping someone would have some possible troubleshooting
steps.

When I select print, it just takes me to the Save screen, and once i've saved
it doesn't print.

MS Word 2002 saves the normal.dot each upon close each time, even if there is
not a change within a document.  It does it in existing and new files.  It
takes approx. 10 seconds to close the application because of this.
Any ideas on how to eliminate this or at least reduce wait ...

I can see the copy and paste icons in my task bar.  I am able to copy with no
problem.  When I click on paste, the icon goes gray and the copied text is
not displayed in my document.  HELP!!

It always comes up every time I open word. I unchecked the option in tools
and tried everything I could think of. IT re-installed MS Word on my computer
