We are running Word 2002 on Windows XP (Home). Attached files saved as Word .doc (and copy received OK by sender ) come with "scrambled" letters and can't be opened (are read as .dat with a systems danger warning). The work around is to save the file in Word, re-name to .doc - ...

Occasionally my copy of Word crashes and leaves a file "locked for editing". Reboot unlocks. Until I buy the newest version of Word, is there a way I can force an unlock, e.g. by editing the Registry?

I am trying to print a word document that has an attached envelope. I can print the envelope fine, but I cannot print the letter. I have Win XP Pro, Word 2003 and an HP Officejet 7210xi All-in-One. Or, how do I remove the envelope after it has been added to the document?

Clicking on the "Tools" menu in Word 2003 sp2 has no response. No pop-up, no freeze and most importantly no menu drops down! This is slowly spreading through my organization with 30+ windows boxes. Also seems that the "help" menu is disabled as well. spell check

When I type the correct sentence "Please advise.", Word underlines "advise" with green and recommends "advice". Since advise is a verb and advice is NOT, this would change a complete sentence into a nonsensical phrase: "Please advice." This should be corrected.
