Why an Extra File Saved?07 Aug 2004 12:21 GMT2
Whenever I open a previously saved *.doc document it is
autoimatically saved as a 1KB document but the first two
letters of the title are changed to ~$.  Any suggestions
as to how to stop this extra save?

I have a new pc w/Office - Word 2003. Can often not  
translate .pdf files off large, well-used internet sites,
whether I try to "open" or save to pc.
