How can I read a .wps file I do not have works, nor do I want it but I have received several files that are .wps and it appears word can't convert. Is there another way??

I have word 97 and I created a document with boxes drawn around some of the text (I used the drawing tool). When I try to convert to pdf (acrobat pdf maker or distiller 5.0) one of the boxes appears empty. It's always the same one.

Is there a program that creates an RTF document in a simplified form like WordPad, but that can utilize (tables/cells) and headers? I tried creating a blank document using WordPad and MSWord intending to view the document using notepad (to see the applicable control words).
