Is there anyway in Word to compare pieces of text in a document or separate
documents to see if they are identical?  
It would be nice to have some kind of function that could tell me if two
pieces of writing were identical and highlight the differences so I didn't

Is it possible to change the line spcing from "pt" (point) to line? where

If impossible, a rough idea of how many points will be a line is enough.

I have a user who informed me there machine crashed yesterday while she was
using Word, upon login back in, the documents had been set to 0 length byte

I have a 100 page dissertation, which had to have page numbering at top
right. I have done that to whole document, but I have 3 tables in landscape,
which when rotated to fit in document have page number top left. How do I get
it in right place?

situation:
I am working on a WORD document and refer to the chapters by inserting
references using the menu "Insert" -> "Reference" -> "Cross-Reference"
then on the popup, I select "Reference Type" = "Numbered Item" and then in

I do remember in word 97, I did a little complicated settings in numbering
inside styles to assign automatic numbering for different level of heading.
In this case if I omit a heading or change its level, word automatically
changes the numbers.

Is there a way to insert a number on the first page (say CPO12354) and have
it automatically increment on the next pages (the second page would be
CPO12355)?
