When I open MS Word 2002 on my computer the following characters appear in the upper left hand corner of the new document "sshsfghsfgjsfgjsfgsfgsfgsfgfgf". They also show when I start a new email. How do I get these letters to stop ppearing on my computer at the time of

MS Word (XP for Home) won't allow me to insert a letter in a mispelled word. The letter before the insertion point will disappear when I try to type the omitted letter.

After the end of a sentence I press spacebar twice to skip two spaces. Instead, word skips more spaces than I wanted it to.
