When I convert a  document in Word Perfect to MS Word,  the size on my disk
is doubled.  Since my friends want me to send files in MS Word, I want to
keep the size of the files down.   Any suggestions?  
MY Word Perfect is version 10; My MS Word is version 2,000.

I am running MS Office 2007 Enterprise (fully patchced) and have installed
the Save As PDF Add-on from Microsoft.com
Whenever I go to Office Button, Save As, PDF, it brings up the regular Save
As dialog box where I have to click the drop down next to type and scroll
