Following Shauna Kelly's great website (shaunakelly.com), I am trying to use
styles and paragraph formatting (spacing before / after) to control paragraph
spacing, rather than extra empty lines. However, I am running into the
following problem.

When I highlight a word or phrase and hit 'backspace' it does not remove it.
The same thing happens if i highlight a section and try to type over it, it
does not remove the initial selection. When just typing and just hitting
backspace it functions normally though.

Some docuemnts will only have one page, but some will have multiple pages.

winword.exe is supposed to re-register Word in the registry.

A secretary just got a new computer and one of the fonts we use "Engravers D"
is there but it is not displaying the way it should.  We have many letter and
memo templates that use this font but it doesn't look like it.  But it does
say it is using the Engravers D font.
