Does anyone know why the Word 2003 now changes the pure
white graphic backgrounds from 255,255,255 to
254,254,254?  This does not occur in Word 2000.  It only
occurs in PNGs and BMPs.  TIFs, GIFs, JPGs, and others

Typing five hyphens in a row ("-----") will cause
Autoformat to draw a border line in Word 2003.
You can erase this by undoing Autoformat, but it seems
once you save the file and close Word, you can't go back
