Many thanks to Bob Buckland for responding to my question about printing fill
effect patterns.  
Sorry to say that his suggestion did not solve the problem as it does not
appear possible to alter the dpi of my printer and to confuse matters further

Is there a way to make the text in a footer show through a fill pattern box?  
I have a large text box that has a fill pattern that covers most of the page.

Everytime I insert diagrams and drawings for some reason the diagram
disappears and a line of text takes it place.  Something like {Shape*}  Can
somebody please tell me how to stop this happenning please.  
If possible explain to me why this would ever be needed.

When I create a text box, it automatically puts it in a drawing canvas and
won't allow me to place it in certain areas. If I move the box to where I
want it, Word automatically moves it down and to the left. I want it at the

There is a graph in Excel that I want to paste with some text in word.  When
I try to paste that spreadsheet in Word it comes up in 2 pages, making it
look messey.  It is probably more wider in breadth than the word document
and it probably throws the half in next page!   But ...

I have used Autoformat to set a style for my Organization Chart.
Now I would like to edit the properties of the lines. Once I select 'All
Connecting lines' the Autoshape options are faded out, as well as the 'line

I've been using Word since it replaced word perfect...am a software
engineer...write tech specs with it all the time.
I've never had a problem with cutting an image from another app into the
clipboard and pasting into a word doc.
