the pictures in my word document are "locked" in the square layout.....I change the layout to "in tight" but they always revert back to square...what am I doing wrong?

when screen shots are pasted into a word document they do not display as you scroll through the document. the only way to get them to display appears to be to select the picture, have the picture tool bar display and increase or decrease the contrast.

I am creating a manuscript for a journal. I want to insert the images and graphs for the manuscript directly into the document. I want these images to be anchored to specific text in the document, but not actually imbeded into the text. An example will explain this best.

I have a word document with a vector graphic in it (possibly it was origonaly a WMF file) that I would like to copy to an individual file so that it can be placed in a library to be used later. Does anyone know of a technique for saving it as an individual vector file?
