Is there a preferred or recommended picture file type to use in Word97?
What is the preferred method for placing that picture: can you simply paste
from the clipboard, or is there an advantage to using insert> picture> from
file.

I've created an invite (with text) in publisher , using clip a art border.
Can I move text to front of clip art, & paste this into an Outlook/Word Doc
to email?

When the user types a minus sign (using Math style) you don't see it.  It is
there cos if you select it is visible in inverted colours but can't see or
print under normal circumstances.  If we change the style to Text and then
type sign, it is there but this is cumbersome and was ...

Trying to draw a clock face without hands on - so that I can put the time to
whatever I want to.  There's nothing in clip art or auto shapes that I can
see.  I've tried word art, but the numbers won't line up properly once you
get them in a circle.  Any ideas?

Using Word 2002 SP3
When formatting a graphic, there is a button on the Picture tab called
'Compress'.  It appears that if you downward resize a graphic or Crop a
graphic and then Compress it, the file size should be smaller.

I have a drawing object (a box and a line) that will not delete.  I have
tried to cut and paste, it will paste but does not remove the original box
(essentially working like the copy function).  I have checked properties and
nothing looks abnormal.  Any suggestions?

I'm trying to type so that I get different heights with the letters. Similar
to a wave effect or U shape but just so it's not in a straight line...anyone
know how to get that effect or do I need a special program.

When inserting a jpeg into a word document, is there a way to automatically
save and apply settings for crop, height and width for the jpeg to be
inserted?  When I insert a jpeg I have to automatically adjust for these
settings everytime.
