I am preparing long documents which will primarily be
viewed on screen.  Is there a way to stop Word altering
the page endings etc when someone with a different
printer opens the document.

i am getting some strange behaviour in word when typing bullet text into
multiple columns.  in the second column word insists on inserting an extra
carriage return after every manual one that i type so that each line is
double spaced.

I have compiled a 200 page book of recipes using triple
columns. When I place a heading at the beginning of the
chapter in single column it creates another section. How
can I number the pages sequentially, not by sections, so

Is there a way to edit manually a 'completed' Table of Contents? I have
generated the T-of-C and would like to add a number of notations- for
instance "Part One" above Chapters One, Two and Three & etc. Is there an

I have been using Word for a long time and I thought I fully understood how
to format footers until recently.
I want a oneline footer, say 'Page x of Y', to appear about 0.5 cm from the

When I used Word 97, I had merge documents which used
Excel data, and the currency formatting carried over.  
Now I have 2002, and the formatting is lost.  i.e. $30.00

After changes in the text I did the update Table of Contents (F9) and
the Table got a little messed up. TOCs 5, corresponding to Heading 5,
turned Bold pt.11 while it's supposed to be Regular pt.9. I went to
Format/Styles/Modify TOC5, there it was Regular 9, as it's supposed to
