Someone said there are a couple of professional non-Microsoft word
processing softwares used in book publishing that don't suffer from the long
doc frailty that MS Word does.  Can anyone tell me the names of any such
software?

I want to number pages of a large document in my unique way. I like
numbering my documents in chapter-page format. For instance, chapter 1 has 4
pages so my numbering sequence would go 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, then 2-1 ...
I've figured out how to include the chapter but the page numbers ...

  Is there anyway I can change a page break into a
section break? Say that Word has automatically created a
page break because a table row has expanded onto the next
page, but I don't want a page break but a section break

If I have a word doc in which I want to lik#nk an excell file this is OK.
But where the data in the Excell file is to be included as a appendix, I
have a problem.  The listy on dat on the excell work sheet is more than the
size of 1 word page.  I cannot find a way to llink to the ...

All of a sudden I cannot change fonts.  When I try to
change font from the toolbar, there is no drop down menu
of fonts, although when I check my Fonts folder under

I am preparing a manuscript and I want end chapter to
contain its own endnotes. But you can't insert a section
break after the endnote - "this is not a valid operation
for endnotes" - and when I put the break at the end of

Hi, I need help, my formatting palette disapeared. When I turn it on, it
goes away from the screen, to the bottom, an unreacheable place for

When I paste special a linked Excel object in Word 2002
some of the columns and rows are not showinig up on the
screen but print out properly.  This happens on some

Hello.  I have a mail merge running from Access 97 to Word
97.  It is an automated merge, and my problem is that the
letters that are created do not stay in focus on the
screen.  Instead, after the merge, the focus goes back to

I'm trying to create a Table of Contents but the problem is that the
200 page document is showing almost every page a "heading 1".  I
checked the Table of Contents options to see if there is a way to
