I have a "Heading 1" style with custom Outline numbering.
The number is written Verdana 32pt, while the paragraph
style is Futura.
In Word 2000, making a TOC inherited the formatting and

If I type in a hyperlink such as:
http://www.microsoft.com  into a word document the autoformat feature
recognizes that it is a hyperlink and creates the hyperlink.
If I save and re-open the doc, the hyperlink now reads:

When inserting a crossreference in Word to a heading I have
experienced some problems.
When I change the text in the heading I receive the message "Reference
source not found" in my crossreference.

I use many references in my documents to other files on
our network.  However I noticed that the hyperlink
addresses get modified under certain conditions.
A typical hyperlink I use would look like:

for frequently typed words. I store these in the normal
template.

I cannot seem to get the footnotes to work correctly in my
document.  If I start a new document or try to insert
footnotes in a completed document it will not insert on
each page.  It will only sometimes do the first page and

Does anybody know of a 3rd part tool that will read the index markers in
Word XP and generate an index? I'm looking for something with more
flexibility than Word provides.

I was trying to get rid of a Char style in my doc and

captions for the figures and tables so Word is controlling the numbering of

How do I link text from within the document to other areas
within the document?  For example, at the top I may have
the names of all 50 states.  If you "click" on that name
it will take you within the document that tells the

For some reason, Word 97 has switched my opening and
closing quotes.  Is there any way to switch them back?

How can I stop this happening? I type in a few asterisks
(****), hit return and get a row of hyphens (-------------
etc). Very useful if you want a row of hyphens. If I then
continue typing and go back to delete the hyphens after
