I've created a new document based on normal.dot (in Word 2002). If I choose "All Styles" in the Styles and Formats pane, I see a list of about 200 styles, including many variations of "body...", "indent...", "bold...", "table...", "html...", "list..." and so on.

My master doc is broken down into sub docs and sections. I put footers throughout the whole doc. Saved, closed and then opened one of the sub documents and it had the footer from the master doc on them.

Word 2002, Windows XP It seems that if you have a paragraph style and apply it to a character it adds a new style with Char after it. Thus changing the style and redering it useless in a TOC

We insert a page break before every Heading 1. When we cross-reference the heading, the page break gets sucked into the field, slamming a page break smack in the middle of the sentence.

A friend asked me about this, and I can't figure it out. She's on Win2000 with Word 6, has to use Government formatting standards (which is really a pain as they don't allow an extra line on a page...they'd prefer you waste an entire sheet for the one last word in a document).
