I am having trouble learning how to format footnotes and
endnotes in Word 97. The help files are almost useless,
and when I search the knowledge base for articles on
formatting footnotes, it draws a blank. Even the simplest

I suddenly lost New York in the pull-down Font menu.  I had long ago
updated Office to the current 10.1.5 before the problem occurred.  I
just uninstalled Office and reinstalled it and updated it to 10.1.5
(including 10.1.2 and 10.1.4), but I still do not have New York.

I opened Word and all I saw was a blank page with no menu
or toolbars.  How do I get them back.   I tried rebooting
but it did not work.

On some of my many pages it turns out that whenever I hit a return Wor
skips an extra space so that I have spaces between paras instead of th
usual arrangement of single spacing with indents.

I do understand how to track changes on a document.
HOwever let;s say a document undergoes 15 changes over a
period of weeks. Each time a group of new changes are made
someone must approve them and then that same person makes

Is there a keyboard or mouse shortcut that puts me into Overtype mode?
I sometimes find myself in it unexpectedly, and I'm sure I haven't
touched the "Insert" key.

Is there an easy way to change the page numbers in each
section to A-1, B-1, C-1 etc?  I can start at 1 each
section but am having trouble with the ABC part.  I've
tried Chapter headings but I keep messing up my

I make a double dash about 10 spaces long and move on.  
Next thing I know Office Word 2003 makes the double dash
extend across the whole page.

I have a document of many sections; I'd like to use a sequence field, being
updated throughout the document, in each section header.
The problem is that the header is evidently formed before the body of the
section (which may include an increment for the sequence field).
