Is there a menu alternative to pressing F9 to update tables? I have a Mac Powerbook and F9 runs expose; I would rather not have to alter the preferences to turn this off each time I need to update tables.

When I turn on the formatting marks I can see the normal paragraph mark, the dots for spaces, but I also see a small square mark that seems to be attached to headings or text that will be part of the ToC.
