I got a Word document from someone with track changes
turned on.  I have never been in the document before,
however, when I opened it it shows me as the author of

I've several documents that use linked files to include
some .doc texts that must change often.

In a nutshell, here's the issue:
Whenever I open a doc in Word 2003, I see index entries, whether or not I've
got Show/Hide on Show. To get rid of the entries, I have to go into
Tools>>Options>>View and deselect "Hidden text". However, the codes come
