After some time working on a document in Word 2002 and, in particular, after
inserting graphics -- mainly .tif files (and that could be another
question!) -- all my drop caps revert to the font for the paragraph + a
carriage return, thus:

Is there a way to create new symbols for MS Word?  I use the 1/2 and 1/4
symbols often, but would like to use one for 5/8.  Is there any way to create

I am at a new firm and things are done a bit differently. Novell/Win XP
clients/ Office 2003.
I have a user who scans a document, cuts the text out, then uses Paste
Special to paste as Plain Text into a fresh doc. When she tries to say Bold,

I have a doc of 700+ pages (a book indeed).
A long time ago hardly recovered from a master doc nightmare.
My conf is Word 2003, Windows XP, 660 Mb RAM
Although stable, I face the following issues :

All of a sudden I have a three inch column on the left side of my Word
documents when in Normal or Outline View. In the column are the words
"Normal" and "Normal (Web) and "HTML Preformatted"
I can't get rid of it. Any help?
Creating a Table of Contents in a Long Document18 Feb 2005 14:28 GMT1
I have created a Master Document that has several subdocuments with the end
result of an approximately 1000 page document.  I cannot get it to create a
Table of Contents.  I keep getting the message: Error! No table of contents
entries found.  Has anyone encountered this before?  ...

Hi,  I'm using Word2002 and have a page with a table in it that has 21 rows
(and would fit easily into one page).  The table shows a range of costs with
a totals line so i want to be able to display it on 1 page.
Now the catch... I have nearly 20 footnotes in the table which mean ...
