in one of my documents, when I make Word Show hidden characters, black
brackets appear in my document.
Would someone know what these brackets are for and how I could erase them?

I have a paper in Turabian format, with footnotes and bibliography.  The
title page has no page number.  The first page is numbered at the bottom
center.  The body of the paper is numbered at the top right.  The
bibliography is numbered at the bottom center.  I cannot get Word to ...

I am placing a link to my company's Internet site within a Word document.
When I click the link, the Internet page displays, but with weird text and
symbols appearing in some places. When I click "Refresh," the page looks
normal.

I am working with a long doc broken into different docs for each chapter.
This is fine but for some reason there seems to be a link between ch 1 & 4 -
when I set the numbering to start at 1 for chapter 1, chapter 4 takes on the

I have a huge document to compile.... it will have over 200 individual
documents altogether plus all the front matter, TOC, etc.
I have read that Master docs are not recommended.  Is this still the
case with MSWord 2002 version?

I'm having some issues trying to use "chapter - page number" in separate
documents.
The situation:
I have created chapters 1 and 2 with sub chapters 2.1, 2.2 etc for Document

If I apply formatting to a selection in a document, the formatting applies to
the entire document.  If I undo, the selection will retain the formatting and
the remainder of the document will return to the original formatting.

I prefer to see my Word 2003 docs in Print Layout view ONLY.  However,
various things keep changing the view to the Reading Layout which is just
awful because the page formatting and numbering is almost never correct.

Any changes I make on any toolbar, or add a toolbar or shifting a
toolbar from my template to the normal template are not being saved

I use a template designed which has different first page and different
odd and even headers and footers. Now that i am updating the template,
these headers and footers have to be edited. i have changed the ones
that are visible. But when i start a new document based on this
