Word 2003: Applying a character style to the first sentence of every paragraph.30 Mar 2006 00:01 GMT3
I've searched the newsgroup and was unable to locate an answer to my
question, so here it goes...
Our users are looking for a way to apply the character style called First

??? What's the point to Word 2003?29 Mar 2006 21:47 GMT4
Good lord -- can't we ever get to a point where we can leave well
enough alone?  What is the point to Word XP, and now Word 2003?  Word
2000 works just fine.
As far as I can tell, these newer versions just have more garbage you
Styles and formatting task bar - "Select all" greyed out W200329 Mar 2006 21:44 GMT4
Using the Styles and Formatting task bar, I am finding that the "Select All"
option is no longer available although it has been until now.
This is happening for styles that are in use and which have been selected at
the cursor - all other styles functions are available.
bookmarks, hyperlinks and back29 Mar 2006 21:42 GMT3
I hope that I have posted to the appropriate group.
In order to make links within the same document, I have bookmarked the
target text, using a hyperlink in order to reach that point. My problem
is how to easily get back to the original section being read at the
cross-refs across included documents29 Mar 2006 21:40 GMT6
I'm trying to assemble a large document, and many of the included
(sub-)documents refer to the same illustrations.  The illustrations all
go into one file of their own.
This results in several advantages: one image can be repeatedly cited
How to restrict footers to sections.29 Mar 2006 14:10 GMT2
I am trying to combine many Word 2003 documents into one.  Each footer
should identify the document from which it came.  I am having 2 problems:
*       If I start a footer in section 2, it shows up in secton 1, even
through there is a continuous or "next page" section break.
Formatting the Endnotes Style29 Mar 2006 05:58 GMT5
I have a word XP document with endnotes at the end of the document. I want
to have the endnotes indented, but it seems to not let me create a style. If
I want to change the style, it tells me something like 'underlying
properties' and I can not change the paragraph style.
Word 2002  slow printing multiple copies28 Mar 2006 21:37 GMT5
All my single-page Word 2002 documents are slow to print multiple copies
with my Dell 1100 laser printer. The files are 50K-300K long. I am running
Windows XP, have 50GB hard disk space free and have 512MB  RAM. Other files
(eg EXCEL or JPEG up to 1.5 MB) are fine.
Switches in Table of Authorities - retain formatting does not retain character styles28 Mar 2006 10:06 GMT1
Just a short note that I've discovered the switch in the Table of
Authorities field to retain original formatting does not work if that
formatting is applied using a character style. It does work if the
formatting is applied using direct formatting.

I'm trying to figure out how I can set different line spacing for items in an outline. for example, I want double spacing after each item when I hit enter. But for items that just wrap on their own, I want only single spacing. Can this be done in word?

Modify default formatting of pasted text27 Mar 2006 04:30 GMT6
Is there a way that you can make default formatting of pasted text to ALWAYS
match destination formatting, instead of having the little menu come up and
having to choose that option each time. Or, maybe change it to "Keep text
only?" Basically, I'd like the ability to change the ...
Compare docs wont stop comparing25 Mar 2006 12:28 GMT1
I'm using Word 2000.  I recently compared documents and found a few
edits.  It was handy.  Unfortunately, when I closed the "good"
document, and opened it up again, the red lines in the margins were
still there!  I can't get rid of them!
Formating of the Endnote Layout lines24 Mar 2006 21:04 GMT3
I use word xp and have Endnotes at the end of the book activated. Now there
is a line on the top of each page where the endnotes are. How can I get rid
of this line? I haven't been able to find a way to get rid of it.
Thanks
No header on first page23 Mar 2006 12:03 GMT8
I would like to be able to NOT include the header on just the first page of
my document, because I want the first page to be the Table of Contents. Any
advice?
Thanks!
