I am on a mac OSX 10.3.9, for some reason my word docs will not open any data source error message reads "word was unable to open the data source". it is a simple excel doc ( i have made sure the excel doc is closed before doing merge). My system has not been updated lately but

I've gone to a lot of trouble formatting a series of strings that look like xx/xx/xx where xx is a number (these aren't dates) and adding spaces so that the length of the string is always 8 characters,
