Trying to mail merge. Excel spread sheet with some conditional formating in
certain fields. When merged the text format is lost. I found out how to set
the field format for every name merge. But it does not come across as it
looks in excel.(red or green or bold).

I have noticed that since being converted to Word XP, performing a mail
merge usually (maybe always?) produces the following dialog box:
"Opening this document will run the following SQL command:

I have an application that is doing a mailmerge via OLE automation.
Seems to be very standard.  The general process is
1) create the data file.
2) open the document for mail merge.
