When your mail merge data source is "Outlook Contacts" how can you choose the "Category" field, as your merge criteria? My 600 Outlook contacts are all categorized. But as far as I can see, there is no way in Word to perform a Outlook contacts merge with the condition

I'm merging with an SQL table, which includes a date column. And I need to merge the records for a specific day only. The date column is formatted as '2007-12-31' (yyyy-mm-dd) and includes a time stamp 00:00:00.

When I mail merge zip code to my word documents leading zeros are dropped. Eg: 07866 becomes 7866. How do I get Word to display the zero?

We do merge in Word through a batch job. This is fine unless there is an error, for example one of the records in the data file is incomplete. Then the merge hangs. If such a merge were run online the user would see the error message and acknowledge it, but in batch

After I have merged to a new document, is it possible to save each letter in the file as a separate file so that I can store them in the appropriate client folder? I know I could copy and paste but that seems to be a very clunky way to do it.

Under Tools > Letters > Mail Merge >Insert Word Field (in merge tool bar) is If...Then...Else... This window allows for adding text under specific circumstances.

This is a similar question to the one posted by Macy in 2005 except that only one field is being truncated. I have a database which I am not able to access directly for the purposes of running queries, reports etc but I am able to export data from it in Excel
