check something without closing Word first.  When I return

My Insert menu pull down tab has disapeared.  I have tried reinstalling
word to no effect.  Any clue?
Also, Word frequently auto types in the wrong date, usually a day or

Whenever I receive pdf files (usually as an attachment)and
I detach them onto my machine to look at them, they are
shown as Word documents and when I open them it shows a

Although we dock it at the left, upon closing and
reopening Word it respositions next to an existing
toolbar.  Any thoughts on how I can fix this?
