Why is it that STILL Microsoft has failed to fix this? All a want is to have a new numbered list begin at 1. Apparently this is to much to ask. Restart numbered list does not work. Can you fix it?

I have a user who is selecting a whole page, that is already number, and is changing the start number. When he does that, he gets Winword.exe has generated errors... and then it closes. We are on Office 2000 and SP1.

I'm sorry, asking such basic question but the issue seems tricky for me. Most of users do not use styles wisely, they use buttons. Unfortunatelly, applying automatic paragraph numbering (listing) via buttons does not keep specyfic styles.
