I have a document that I need to add page numbers to.  I
have a title page, an abstract page, the main body of the
document, and a reference page.

I'm using Word 97 and my document has page numbers which have been
inserted in the footer using the Insert Page Numbers option.
The problem is that when I protect the document, the page numbers mess
up.  Instead of being 1,2,3... etc, they become 3,3,3...

I'm using word 2003 and by  default numbering at 1 and
the second level goes to a whereas I prefer 1, 1.1, 1.1.1
etc.  The option is there and I can change it easy enough
but is there any way to make my preference the default?

I need to number several sections in word.  Here's what I need:
Section 1.01
Page 1 should be 01.01.01
Page 2 should be 01.01.02
Page number same as number of pages21 May 2004 19:21 GMT1
Whenever I print normally the page number is the same as
the number of pages. i.e. 2 of 2, 3 of 3 etc. The display
on my monitor is correct though. i.e. 2 of 5, 3 of 5 etc.
However, if I print and set the page range (ex. 1-5) the

Is there a way to turn off by default the "Link to Previous" in the Header/Footer tool bar. I know you can toggle it on and off, but would like to have the default set to Off rather than On.

reopened. The doc template is a quotation which is going
to be used over and over again
