Is it possible to only display the number and not the label in a
cross-reference, i.e. get "2.1" as the field value when I refere to "Figure
2.1"?

I have added numbering to my document, as it contains many
figures pasted from the clipboard.  However, Word
doesn't maintain the reference if I insert numbering into

In cross refererring figures, I use bookmarks in the
following way : Insert cross reference as usual, then
select the desired text from the actual caption, click
Insert Bookmark, Add, and then update the fields. What is

I only recently changed from Office 2000 to XP. I use the outline
numbered lists quite a lot, and I always used TAB and SHIFT-TAB to
promote and demote items. This doesn't seem to work in XP anymore, it
just inserts a normal TAB. Or have I missed something?

I am editing a Word document that already has footnotes in it. When
add a footnote now Word doesn't count correctly; the footnote I entere
should be no 10, but Word counts it (automatically) as no 5.
What can be done
