page numbering30 Jun 2004 05:47 GMT2
I'm building a document that starts with a title page, two
pages of table of contents, and then my abstract. I want my
page numbering (1,2,3...) to start on page 3 (the
abstract). I've been about three hours at this now and
Numbered Style not saving in template29 Jun 2004 21:56 GMT2
I have a style called P-note. It's a numbered style, but
with Note instead of a number. This style is left at the
1" margin, and hanging indent to 1.25. I save the doc, and
say Yes to save it to the document template. When I close
Simple Numbering28 Jun 2004 12:56 GMT1
Simple but not so simple.  All I want is to begin a
numbering at the margin at 1.1 with a .75 tab. Then when I
hit return I want 1.2 with a .75 tab., then 1.3 and so
on.  When I begin it's 1.1, hit return 2.1 (I want 1.2).
dynamic references to numbered paragraphs - possible?28 Jun 2004 10:12 GMT2
I am creating auto-numbered paragraphs in a Word 2000 doc.  In other
paragraphs, there are references to, for example, "As noted in paragraph 2
..."  Is there a way to make that paragraph 2 reference to be dynamic so if
Paragraph 2 becomes Paragraph 4 the reference is auto-updated?  ...
Field numbering problem related to different French/English list separator27 Jun 2004 17:58 GMT2
I am trying to use field codes to avoid having different odd/even page
headers and footers.
The fields I'm using are
{IF {=MOD({PAGE} , 2 )} = 1 {PAGE}}, which gives the page number on an odd
list numbers (more of a sad story than a question)26 Jun 2004 11:55 GMT7
Ah yes, the bugaboo. Sometimes it will work beautifully,
sometimes it won't. I seem to have stumbled upon a
solution that is absolutely wrong (I write a lot of
instructions but try to limit them to two levels): when
endnote numbering26 Jun 2004 10:34 GMT1
Ok, here's the deal.  I have large document with over 200
endnotes.  I originally composed in in WordPerfect and
then translated it into word.  Since translating it, I
have rearranged text, and added endnotes.  Now the
Tab used to auto-indent25 Jun 2004 20:14 GMT2
I used to be able to press the tab key when using a
bulleted or numbered list and it would automatically
indent the line.  Now it just tabs over instead of auto-
indenting to the next level.  I'm using Word 2002 (XP) and
Rotate page numbers25 Jun 2004 02:00 GMT1
I have a document with some landscape pages and when I create the page

printed in portrait. How can I rotate the text for these landscape pages so
they match the page number positions in the rest of the ...
Styles24 Jun 2004 09:29 GMT7
I am starting to write a long thesis but would like to
clear some basic doubts regarding Styles, to avoid doing
something which can't be easily reverted.

Automatic Numbering24 Jun 2004 09:13 GMT1
I can't get automatic numbering to work on third level in
Word 2003.  Numbering on style heading 1 (ie 1.00), then
style heading 2 (ie 1.01) both working fine but can't get
third level to work (ie 1.01.01).  Will not continue
STYLEREF picks up only the first style24 Jun 2004 09:12 GMT4
I have a document that has headings in it, each marked with the appropriate style. I'm looking for a way to have the page headers reflect the text of the previous "Heading 1" paragraph, or, if there's a "Heading 1" paragraph on the page, the text of the first such paragraph. In ...

I'm looking for a tool to use to create informal documents that follow this

The best solution for numbering equations in Word (read it here)23 Jun 2004 23:39 GMT1
I have read here numerous posts on how to properly number the
equations in a scientific way (i.e. equation number in parenthesis on
the right).
What I wanted is something that looks like this:
Deleted footnote23 Jun 2004 23:33 GMT3
I am assisting a customer using Word 2000 on a Windows

appears to still be there, no text or content remain but
