I have a document with several figures that are placed in
text boxes.  The caption are below the figures in the text
boxes.  In the text, I have numerous cross references to
these figures.  All looks good until I use Print Preview,

Insert/Reference/Cross-reference.
To insert a figure cross reference that will show up as:
"Fig 1"

I have a large document with  custom styles. After
editing the document a couple of week ago, all was fine.
But when i have just reopened it all of the numbers
related to the custom lists have gone.

I've read through past posts and used suggestions to set up my
document for the page numbering to be A-1, A-2, etc.  However, I would
like for my title on the Exhibit or Appendix page to only be a title

How can I create a page # "s-3-8" so that it is referenced in the TOC as
