Page Numbers, Captions, & Index all have grey background25 Sep 2004 09:35 GMT2
I don't know what I done but now my page numbers, captions, and index
all have a grey background. Even if I start a new document it does
this now. I've done everything I can think of to try to fix it to no
avail.

Does anyone have an ytips on setting up numbering in Word to make
building dichotomous keys easier? These are basically outline-like
lists used for identifying organisms in biology and have other various
uses in science and elsewhere. Here is a simple example:

I created a template that suits me for an outline.  However, when a line
that I am writing wraps to the next line, it aligns left under the
number above, rather than being lined up under the indented line above.

I've got a problem with bullets that I can't figure out.  I'm copying text
from a document and am pasting it into the new text using Paste
Special/Unformatted text.  Then, I want to bullet the text such that they
look something like this:

When typing a list using bullets you would press the tab
key and the symbol would change and indent -- this is
longer working since I installed an Office update.

Using Word 2003.  Can the NumPages field be set to only count a portion of a
document?  Here's my problem.  I have a document with a titlke page and a
couple of pages of frontmatter, TOC, etc.  Then the text itself begins for,
say, 10 pages so the documents has a total page count of ...

Captions for the Table and Figure captions and then
insert the associated cross references in the text.

I'm in Microsoft Word, revising an original document that
contains bullets and numbers.  Each time I make any change
in a numbered item, the numbers immediately following that
one restart the numbering process.  Say I'm revising item
