Heading Style Update in numbered list not sticking19 Sep 2004 04:42 GMT1
I have a document which includes numbered styles.  Style 'Heading 3'
iincludes numbers.  The lines in this style are wrapping with a hanging
indentation of .35". I would like that to be a hanging indent of .5".   I go
to change style, make the change under Paragraph, Hanging ...

In my template the Outline Numbering on all Heading levels is defined in a
common style (1., 1.1, 1.1.1, etc).
When I create a new document from this template, the number on all Heading
styles is present, but after saving the document:

I have some documents that were created using the
technical 4 style for numbering AND for text.  I don't
know if technical4 is a widely used style or not (I've
never ran into it) and I want to convert it over to the

I am trying to set up a purchase order template. I need

next consecutive P.O. number each time the template is

I auto-number paragraphs in a document with this code:

When I revise the document, I may insert new paragraphs.  I'd like them to

Sorry if the subject is not clear. I have a similar
problem to another user with regards to level 2 numbering
not following on from level 1. I'm using Word 2003 and

I am trying to create a legal document and table of contents in which the
heading and text are on the same line. I am using a numbered outline and
highlightling a choosing a different style (not a header), using TC doesn't
seem to work, nor using the "invisible paragraph" method ...

Does anyone know how to create a numbered outline WITHOUT using the outline
feature, ie just using paragraphs and bullets/numbers such that you can
add/delete entries and the numbers will all update automatically and still

I want to modify an outline style.  I navigate thorough this sequence:
Choose style - modify, which leads to dialog box "Modify Style".  I pick
format - numbering, which leads to dialog "Bullets and Numbering".  I choose

Anybody have a good reference for learning how to set up bullets in styles? I
do not want the style to be a bullet itself, but how to define a bullet so
that when used within a paragraph it's custom to the way I want it.
