With the help of MVPs, I successfully "fixed" list and header numbering in previous versions of Word using some VBA. We recently upgraded to XP - and I have returned to template making after a while.

I'm trying to cross ref multiple citations (as in [1,2,3]) from a numbered bibliography list with the item's number in square brackets format. It works fine for single citations (like [1] or [2]) but as the cross-ref field brings out the item number complete with the brackets I

How do I get page numbering to start from the 5th (say) page in a document? If it is achieved by using Section Breaks, will having any subsequent Section breaks "stop" the numbering? Many Thanks for your help,

I have applied everything I have read about using Field Codes to number captions (with the chapter number) so that I display "Figure 2-1" for example. But Word is skipping numbers in one particular document

As a workaround to the problem in my previous post, I tried to enter the TC field for the missing heding by hand. As soon as I type TC, the field become regular text ({} and all). I tried doing this on several locations within the document, with the same effect.

Is there anyway to get a SEQ field inserted into a footnote? I have tried this but get an error that it is for main document only. Any ideas/suggestions on your to accomplish this? I need to be able to insert autotext entries for classification markers that use SEQ in them.

Somehow my normal.dot was corrupted and I had to delete it. Now when ever I go to outline view, everything is right justified so that new text emanates from the right margin and that's where the (--) and the (+) signs are showing the outline hierarchy.

I am using standard heading styles in Word XP. Somehow the TOC is missing one entry (the next to last). I have tried deleting the heading text (and adjacent lines) and re-typing it, and then making it a heading again, but it does not work.

Havent never done this so its probably easy for someone! Im in Word 2003 and I have got a document that has an index that needs to use roman numerals, then the rest of the documnet needs to start at 1 and go from there.
