I have created a word doc order form for new sales. When I print the pages, I would like to have them sequentially numbered. (ie as a confirmation number.) I would greatly appreciate if anyone could tell me how to perform this task. Thanks.

I am thinking that it is defining sections (as in different sections) that is the best way to make Word deal with a complex page numbering system. For instance, I have a paper with a very strict formatting requirement.

How one earth do you set the page numbers to be on the left on one page and on the right on the next and so on? So that when you print it out double-sided, all the numbers are on the outside? Please help! I need to get this document done by Monday!

I have adapted the outline numbered levels to show headings that are useful for writing fiction. Instead of showing numbers ( 1.0, 1.1, 1.1.1) my levels show "Character 1", "Character 2" etc, and I can navigate between characters using the tab and shift + tab keys. For example,
