I need to copy parts of a document in Word 2003 that has an outline numbered format. When I go to copy paragraph 3.2 from one document and paste it to a new document, the number revverts to 1.1. Is there a way to paste this to keep the original number? I didn't

I have working with Word 2002 and am typing a simple document with no special format of about 45 pages with a few page having columns (2). The problem is page numbering. There seems to be 35 sections over the 45 pages and each one wants to restart numbering from 2!

I have a large document that for editing purposes, I had divided into 3 separate documents. I used 4 styles to do the legal numbering (1, 1.1, etc) Each of the documents had one first level, with the rest of the document being the lower numbers.

We would like for our appendix page numbers to look like: A-1, A-2, A-3,...; B-1, B-2, B-3...; C-1, C-2, C-3..., etc. And we want them to appear in the TOC as such, automatically. I can't get this to work in Word 2003, even after trying the steps in the Help topic "Restart page ...
