I use Word 2003 and when I define the caption with insert/references/ Caption/tables, I get the right number "table 3-1 xxxxxxxx" until I push ok, then it writes to table 0-1 xxxxxxxxx. It seems that the other captions for figures and tables in chapter 4-8

When I "update fields" in my MS Word documents some cross-references to tables and figures alter the formatting of the paragraph that contains them. For example, I update fields and the paragraph: "Blah blah blah Table 3 blah blah blah"
