A gray bar is present after my reference section and on

I have a large document (book manuscript) that I want to
break into sections (by chapter) so that I can have
differnt headers for each chapter. When I insert
a "section break next page" a blank page is inserted

While editing tables, a double line somehow appeared in
the footer area of my document.  I can't select the line
and then delete it.  I made a second copy of the document,

I have various versions of word at work. However I cannot
select a page size greater then A3w i.e. no A2 option. I
know my printer will print to A2 but word does not allow
the page to be set to A2. Is this a known problem. I have

I can't get the page number to show up in the word doc.
I'm not using multiple sections, or bookmarks. Does
anyone have any idea how to fix this?
I've taken it out and redone it and it still doesn't work.

Would like the grid to print print to show scale of a graphics/lines, etc.

I have just reinstalled Windows and Word 2000.  I saved my Normal.dot
file (with several thousand lines of macros) but some of my preferred
settings got lost and I'm trying to recreate them.

Still having a problem with page numbers. I have a three
section doc; cover, toc, main body.  I only want page
numbers in the main body. So my footer shows "Page x of y".
Cover is one page, toc is two pages, main body is 14 pages.
