I'm running Word 2002 (10.5815.4219) SP-2 on a Win2000Pro system. Recently, for no reason I can see, the default new document has changed. When I invoke a new document, it still seems to come up in the normal template, but it displays inconsistently with the Page Setup numbers.

Is it possible to span a portion of text across two columns without embedding it in a different section? I'd like to have my first-level headings print across the columns, so making section breaks for each heading would be rather cumbersome.

I need to type a paper and somehow the margins or something are screwed up.Whenever I print there are weird spacing and returns where I don't want them. What are the margins suppose to be at or what can be the problem?
