I'm running Word 2000 under Windows 98 on three PCs. I've a Word document on PC 1 that has 49 pages. I copied the document to PCs 2 and 3. On PC 2 the file has 78 pages, whilst on PC 3 it correctly has 49 pages.

I have my document set into chapters, and I use Chapter 1 as my heading 1. However when I go to chapter 2 and subsequent chapters, and apply "heading 2" then it starts with number 1.2 instead of 2.1. What can I do? If I set the restart numbering then is worse, the number I get is 1 ...

Working on a technical report in Word 2000, in track change mode. The software will not stop repaginating - going to 9000+ pages. I've put the cursor at the end of the text, but cannot go any farther in the document. Copying to another file does not stop the repaginating.

I normally use LaTeX for text formatting, but am collaborating with a colleague on a paper, and she only uses Word. While I can handle 95% of the basics of Word just fine, one thing has me stumped - the journal we're submitting the paper to requires line numbering.
