How do I set up a "call out" or "side bar" to a paragraph in Word?

a question came up in a discussion with users. How far can a word template
control Word itself? For instance is it possible to switch off spell
checking, choose a particular presentation view, zoom size etc.?

IN Microsoft word, I want to make colums. I know how to make colums, although
they are too long and thin.
I want to be able to turn the page horizontal, then add colums going
vertically. So the colums are wider and shorter.

Is there a way to set margins based on character width? I know that if my
document has more than 70 characters per line, the formatting will be messed
up. How do I format my document so that each line will take no more than 70

I am trying to print a document 90 degree to the right or the left, but it
still print normally. I don't understand how you can print an envelope
sideways, but you can't print any other document sideways.

I scanned a picture to a word doc, then added a text box.  After composing
text, had a heck of a time getting box to disappear.  All this was done on
